Assignment #5  [4th Individual Assignment]

5. Plotting a Dead Reckoning Course

Using a NOAA chart,  construct a dead reckoning  course plot by which you propose to sail from one point on your chart to another, assuming the two points at some distance from each other (more than 4 hours away at modest sailing speeds) and not navigated without at least one course change (e.g., requires at least two course lines because of intervening obstacle that prevents direct route).

Your plot should include the following:

A link to the NOAA chart you are using (its title, number and scale)
The known/fixed  Lat/Lon coordinates of your place of departure
The time of your setting out on determined course
Course © at departure from departure point
Hourly estimates of DR position while on this first leg
Estimated speed (S) made on this course
Distance covered on this course
The Lat/Lon coordinates where course change required

Time of course change
New course

Distance covered on this course
Speed made on this course
Hourly estimate of DR position on this second leg
The known/fixed Lat/Lon coordinates of destination
Lapsed time of  transit from departure point to destination point
